Spooner world premiere

Sunday, December 14th, 2008

At long last we have a world premiere date of Drake Doremus’ little known production - Spooner.

indieWire has brought to my attention the announcement of the 2009 Slamdance Film Festival’s film lineup.

The Slamdance film festival takes place in Utah alongside the Sundance film festival, aiming to give a more indie perspective to the festival scene. Their Narrative Feature competition, in which Spooner is making its world premiere, is open to sub-$1million budget productions from first-time directors.

Slamdance will run January 15 - 23, 2009, with Spooner set to screen at 8:30pm on the 18th and 10:00pm on the 22nd.

Slamdance’s website promises more information on its lineup to come on December 16th, so check back here for your Spooner update.

Here’s a short clip for your amusement. :)

Nora helps serve Thanksgiving at the L.A. Mission

Sunday, December 14th, 2008

Nora Zehetner at the L.A. Mission, Thanksgiving 2008This news comes a bit late, but I’ve found some photos of Nora helping to serve thanksgiving dinner to the homeless at the L.A. Mission this year.

This is a yearly event hosted by acting legend Kirk Douglas and his wife. Nora Zehetner joined many of her fellow actors and actresses, including Cindy Crawford, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Corbin Bleu Wilmer Valderrama, Neal McDonough, Joe Campana and Natasha Alam as well as Los Angeles mayor Antonio Villaraigosa in donating their time and spirit to those who had no family to spend the holiday with.

An estimated 3000 people were served this year despite the rain.

We here at NoraZehetner.net are proud of Nora’s efforts and applaud her goodwill.

Spooner teaser - sort of!

Wednesday, October 22nd, 2008

Good news!

I was recently searching the net for new info on the Spooner movie, when I came across the website of cinematographer John Guleserian. I guess he must be working on the Spooner project because, to my surprise and delight, he embedded a video collage of his latest works which included a few scenes from Spooner! Yay :D! Nora is looking so pretty, red lipstick and all… and judging by those few scenes I bet the movie is going to be lots of fun.

To see this almost-an-official-teaser for our long awaited movie, go to: www.johnguleserian.com, then click on the “REEL” link.

Enjoy!

Unveiling the set of Spooner!

Sunday, October 12th, 2008

Hi everyone! This is my first post here and I’m really excited to tell you that I’ve found some beautiful photographs of the Spooner set taken by Frank Ishman. I haven’t yet added them to the gallery but will do that as soon as Sean adjusts my privileges over there–promise ;) Here is a peek to sate your curiosity a little… Doesn’t she look lovely?

Apart from these images I’ve just mentioned, I really can’t find anything else about this mysterious movie! Though I have found a little about the director Drake Doremus at ExecuProv.

Drake Doremus, a graduate of the American Film Institute in Los Angeles, CA, is the youngest Fellow to have been accepted at the highly-lauded institution and the youngest to graduate from there from its director’s program, since the institution’s inception 35 years ago.

Also, on september 16th, Sean posted that Spooner’s status, as seen on IMDB, had changed from post-production to completed. But now it’s back at post-production… So much mystery… Do you know anything else about Spooner? Share it with us at the comments section :D

Nora shown in Heroes build-up show

Monday, September 22nd, 2008

The Heroes release “party” show was aired last night on Canadian television networks. All the current stars of the show were there to discuss their roles and give insights into their characters. Several previews of the upcoming season were shown, as well as several vignettes looking back on the story so far. We even got some glimpses inside the making of the show’s special effects, including the charred Claire as she made her way out of her burning house and the wire-work done for Peter and Nathan’s flying scene.

Nora did not make a personal appearance at the event, but we did catch glimpses of her in some of the vignettes.

The show aired a day early on Global, a canadian television network. If you missed it last night, you can catch it again tonight at its intended time… right before the season premiere of Heroes.

Rian Johnson Unveils his Next Film - Looper

Thursday, September 18th, 2008

Being a Nora fan means being familiar with Rian Johnson’s work.  His directorial debut, Brick, was one of Nora’s largest movie roles at the time. She also makes a cameo in his second work, The Brothers Bloom. Admittedly, there are currently only two examples, but Nora has appeared in every movie Rian has directed thus far. So when we find out he has a new project in the works, we here at NoraZehetner.net are excited to hear about it.

This project, titled Looper, is a “really violent and dark” (those are his words) sci-fi flick. He revealed just a snippet of the plot: “Looper is set in a present-day world in which a group of hitmen are sent their victims from the future.” This quote follows a previous comparison of the project to the Terminator: “To me, it’s a lot more like the first Terminator. It’s very sci-fi, but it’s very character-based and very concentrated. It’s very different from the Terminator movies, but it’s like the first Terminator in that time travel is involved with it, but only as a plot device.

Will Nora be a part of this? We’ll just have to wait and see.

MEIFF 2008

The Middle East International Film Festival (henceforth called MEIFF), today announced their line-up of special presentation films. Scheduled for the opening night gala on October 10th, The Brothers Bloom is set to launch this second edition of the festival.

Abu Dhabi plays host to the MEIFF, which aims to introduce filmmakers from around the world to the region and offers a diverse slate of international films to the community. MEIFF is striving to become a centre for filmmakers in the region and internationally to meet and present their films in a city fast becoming the leading cultural centre in the Middle East. The international element of the Festival this year is truly reflected in the line up of films that they will be screening: currently there are plans to screen movies from over 35 countries, and all five continents.
